Age Restrictions and Accompanying Adults:
Our Family Friendly Learn-to-Play Dungeons & Dragons sessions are designed for families to get their first experience of D&D together as a group, and as such, there are some attendance requirements for this event:
- Children in attendance must be between the ages of 9 and 13.
- All children must be accompanied by an adult (parent or guardian recommended).
- Only adults accompanying children are permitted to attend this event.
- A ticket must be purchased for each player.
Whilst these restrictions are in place for safeguarding purposes, we understand that families come in all shapes and sizes! Please do get in touch if you would like to discuss bringing a group that falls outside of these restrictions, as certain allowances may be made upon request, provided they are within the spirit of the family-friendly nature of these sessions.
These family-friendly sessions are designed for parents to actively support their children's interest in playing Dungeons & Dragons by jumping into the action right alongside them! We absolutely recommend attending together as players; however, accompanying adults may instead choose to attend as non-players. Non-players will still be considered "participants" and will be seated at the game table for the duration of the session but will not be required to actively participate. They will instead take a passive role at the table by assisting the children they are accompanying and helping to facilitate their enjoyment of the game.
Please note: The quantity of this product refers to the number of player tickets you are purchasing. Accompanying adults attending as non-players do not require a ticket; however, they must be present for the duration of the event and will still be seated at the table as participants.
About the Session:
Our Learn-to-Play D&D sessions are designed to provide brand-new players with a welcoming and immersive RPG experience, introducing them to the world of D&D and tabletop roleplaying games without the need for any prior knowledge or preparation. These sessions feature a unique one-shot adventure, specifically crafted to give first-time players a feel for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, without needing to learn the rules, create a character, or prepare anything in advance! That means no previous D&D knowledge or experience is required, and no physical game materials are necessary – everything you need to take part in the session will be provided (unless you’d like to bring a pen and paper to take notes!).
The story, setting, and characters will all be revealed on the day – all you need to do is turn up and enjoy your first D&D experience!
What’s Included:
- A guided D&D 5E session with one of our volunteer DMs, tailored for first-time players.
- A Beholder’s Gaze "Lucky Dice Bag" containing your own set of dice to keep!
- A pre-generated character sheet - all you need to do is name them!
- All game materials provided – just bring along your imagination!
Spaces at each Learn-to-Play session are limited, so book your spot now to start your adventure!
Content Advisory:
Whilst every effort has been made to ensure that our family-friendly Learn-to-Play sessions are suitable for a younger audience, please be aware that Shuffle is unable to control the actions of other participants at the game table and therefore cannot accept responsibility for the content portrayed or language used by other attendees.
We truly believe that tabletop roleplaying games can be an excellent confidence-building tool for all ages. However, it is important for those assuming the role of accompanying adults to understand in advance that D&D is a game in which the depiction of violence is relatively commonplace. While the session is designed with children in mind, a certain level of violence is still to be expected (and can often be incited and described by the players themselves!).
With that in mind, we kindly ask that you consider the boundaries of the other families at your table, just as you would wish your own to be respected in kind.
